Ugh! Sometimes I’m so darn sluggish and lazy! It just doesn’t add up because I have deadlines to meet. I wish to be a robot who could very easily and breezily churn out infinite results without breaking a sweat. Curse my emotions and the fact that my soul would be crushed if I aimed to be as robotic as possible. Ugh!
Yesterday, post four-hour study session, I walked home with excellent posture and an aggressive smile. I felt unstoppable. I was struck by the following thought.
WORKING HARD = SATISFACTION
WORKING HARD + WORKING SMART = SATISFACTION + RESULTS
I’m sure I’m not the first person to realise this. No doubt someone was struck with this insight when they were building Stonehenge.

I imagine that after a long day of lugging a boulder the size of a whale across fields and fields of dirt, the very tired person sat down and felt an immense sense of satisfaction at the level of fortitude and focus they were able to maintain throughout the day. They probably felt pretty good about themselves, and like they were doing a pretty good job at pleasing the pagan gods.
But, no doubt someone else probably came along and dragged an even bigger boulder, probably the size of two whales, across fields and fields of dirt. And they dragged it double the distance!!!
And the rest of the boulder-draggers were all like “AAAAAAAAA WOTTTTTTTTT” And the smart boulder-dragger just shrugged their shoulders smugly, and felt pretty good about themselves and how well they were doing at pleasing the pagan gods. “If I keep this pace up, I’ll reach the Salisbury Plain in no time and maybe, just maybe, this megalithic monument will be completed within the next millenium!!!!”
So I want to strive to be a smart boulder-dragger, because they worked just as hard, and they did just as much graft within the same period of time, but because they had a better strategy, they got better results.
Or something like that.
